Zone Boundary and Lakewood Communities
Zone boundaries ensure players register in the correct geographic area, helping balance team numbers, keep competition fair, and support local club development within each region. The Zone Boundary Map details which Community Associations fall under the purview of each of the five zones.
Lakewood's Zone includes the following Community Associations:
| Blackstrap | Eastview | Lakeridge | Nutana SC |
| Brevoort Park | Grosvenor Park | Lakeview | Rosewood |
| Briarwood | Greystone Heights | Lakewood SC | SE Development Area |
| Clavet | Holliston | Nutana Park (South) | Wildwood |
Extended Zone Boundaries cover a 100km radius outside of the Saskatoon City Limits. Players who reside between east of Highway 11 and south of Highway 5 are deemed to be part of the Lakewood Extended Zone Boundary.
If your player is interested in playing in a Zone other than their Zone of Residence you can apply for Permission to Play Out-of-Zone (PTPOZ). The online application is available on the SYSI website and must be submitted prior to the deadline of August 30.
DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE (U7 - U9)
Development League is offered as an alternative to Community programming for players in the U7 and U9 age groups. There are no tiered teams or formal evaluations—team placement is based on creating competitive balance.
Players typically train twice per week: one session is led by Lakewood’s Technical Staff Coaches, and the other is run in a team setting by Lakewood Volunteer Coaches. The focus is on fun, developing physical literacy, and supporting teammate requests wherever possible.
All Nights of Play are Tentative Based on Number of Registered Teams, and Every Division Can Have the Possibility of Games Scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
* Under 8 and Under 9 Registration fee includes automatic entry into the Lakewood Just Kick It Cup tournament January 29-31, 2027.
CITY RECREATIONAL LEAGUE
City Recreational League is designed for those interested in a less demanding environment and more relaxed commitment. It is an alternative recreational option played on hard court with in 7v7 format with live walls. There are no standings or playoffs, and teams do not participate in tournament play. No evaluations are required for the City Rec League, and teams are created with balance and teammate requests as the main focus. More information on the City Recreational League can be located HERE
League Structure: Alliance vs City
All Nights of Play are Tentative Based on Number of Registered Teams, and Every Division Can Have the Possibility of Games Scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
ALLIANCE LEAGUE
Alliance League players are required to attend evaluations for team placement. Alliance League costs are higher, with teams running 1-2 weekly training sessions. Player requests for friends will be considered, but not guaranteed, only when the players are in the same age division, and are of the same skill and development level.
All Nights of Play are Tentative Based on Number of Registered Teams, and Every Division Can Have the Possibility of Games Scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
* U13 Alliance A players are charged an additional "Half Field" fee as they play 9v9 1/2 field instead of 7v7 1/4 field
** Players born in 2008-2011 are not restricted by Zone Boundaries
Team Fees
Players on U8/U9 Development teams and U11-U19 Alliance League teams may be responsible for paying additional team fees, which are not included as part of your registration costs. These fees help cover a range of team-related expenses, such as:
-
Tournament entry and travel costs
-
Team social activities
-
Team apparel (e.g., bunnyhugs, jackets)
-
End-of-season coach gifts
Team fundraising may help offset these costs.
Team fees are determined and managed at the team level by the coach and/or team manager. If a family is unable to cover their portion of the team fees, they are encouraged to speak with their team manager about setting up a payment plan. Families may also apply for financial support through Lakewood’s Ways & Means funding assistance program if eligible.
Team fees are not eligible to be covered by KidSport or Athlete Assistance Fund support
Team Entry Deadlines
Team Entry Deadlines for the Indoor Season Leagues are set by Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc (SYSI). These deadlines are in place to ensure our team numbers can be submitted with enough time allowed to create the schedule for the upcoming season. Our Refund Policy references these dates in regards to how refunds are calculated and managed.
U7 and U8/U9 Team Entry Deadline: September 1
U11 - U15 Team Entry Deadline: September 4
U17/19 Team Entry Deadline: September 8
Lakewood Uniforms
Lakewood will continue with our Adidas uniform program, introduced in 2025-26. Players who purchased a uniform as part of their Indoor 2025-26 Season or Outdoor 2026 Season are not required to purchase a new uniform*/**. If you need a new size, or would like to replace your kit you must include this as part of your registration.
We strongly recommend that you get the correct fit by trying on sizers at Soccer Locker. The Adidas jersey and ATC Pro tee fit differently, and it is your responsibility to ensure you order the correct sizes.

*Players moving from U7 to U8 will be required to purchase a full uniform kit with their registration.

Evaluations
Lakewood evaluations will be hosted at Sidney L Buckwold fields for all Alliance League players. U7 and U8/U9 Development League players will be invited out to pre-season placement sessions in early September, along with U11 City Recreational League players.
Full evaluation schedule will be available August 1, with evaluations taking place from late August through mid-September.
- Players will be placed on teams based on age and evaluation results
- Final schedules and team placement details will follow evaluations
We approach evaluations with a focus on effort, attitude and development, ensuring every player has the opportunity to grow.
Lakewood Volunteer Bond
Lakewood Soccer is powered by our incredible volunteers—from coaches and team staff to committee members and tournament organizers. Their dedication is what makes us more than just a club—it makes us a community.
For the upcoming season, we’ve made a few updates to our Volunteer Bond Policy. To help ensure a positive experience for every player, a $150 volunteer bond per player is required prior to evaluations. This bond will be automatically added during registration.
Each family is asked to complete a minimum of 3 volunteer hours per registered player. Once these hours are fulfilled, the bond will be credited to your RAMP account and can be applied toward future registrations.
If your player is not returning next season (including players who are aging out or transferring to another zone), you may request a refund of the bond after your volunteer commitment has been completed.
How to Fulfill Your Volunteer Hours
Most families choose to complete their volunteer hours during the Lakewood Tournament (January 29-31, 2027), our largest annual event and key fundraiser.
- Families are asked to contribute a minimum of 3 hours per player
- The tournament provides the most convenient opportunity to complete your hours
- Additional volunteer opportunities may be available throughout the season (evaluations, special events)
These events are essential in helping us deliver quality programming and keep our club running smoothly.
Exemptions
Coaches and Team Managers are exempt from the volunteer bond and required hours due to their significant time commitment. Once confirmed in one of these roles, you may request a promo code to waive the bond by contacting registration@lakewoodsoccer.com.
