Lakewood Volunteer Bond Details

Lakewood Soccer is largely made up of volunteer positions, from the committees to the tournament organization, from coaching to the many other positions that make Lakewood the Club it has become - truly a soccer community and a soccer family.

We require a large number of volunteers to ensure that our players have a great soccer experience. We require that a volunteer bond of $100 per player be submitted prior to a player being evaluated. This is usually done by way of a postdated cheque that is dated for the seasons end date (if you do not have a cheque, you can give a cash bond or etransfer the bond to

During the Lakewood Tournament, we ask that each parent (or player if a job is open that they can do) volunteer about 1.5 hours per child registered to assist us in running a well-organized tournament. The tournaments are a major fundraiser Lakewood Soccer, and when the tournament is successful, we are able to use the funds to help manage Lakewood Soccer more efficiently. In order to do this, we require a few hours of your time.

Once the tournament schedule is made, an email will be sent where you can pick which position you would like to volunteer for and the time you would like. Once you have finished your volunteer shift, you will receive your cheque back. If you do not volunteer for a shift or if you volunteer for a shift and do not show up, your cheque will be cashed at the end of the season unless an alternative way to volunteer has been made.

If the tournament is not allowed due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be other opportunities. Selling Chase the Ace tickets will likely be the main opportunity.

Coaches and Managers are exempt from volunteering as they put countless hours into ensuring the soccer season is fun for the players.

If you know you won’t be available to volunteer or if you would rather not volunteer, you can choose upfront to forfeit your volunteer bond and pay the $100 upfront. If you choose to do this, we can then offer shifts that aren’t picked up to players or teams doing fundraising to ensure we have enough people available to run a successful tournament and a successful season.
