LAKEWOOD Provincial Soccer League 2020 (PSL)
UPDATE MAY 1st, 2020
As of today's date, the PSL 2020 season has not as of yet been cancelled. Only postponed.
We still have hope that there will be a semblance of a season, beginning sometime in either July or August this summer. And more than likely it would not be so much a season or league, but more of a tournament styled format, with games being played over two weekends for example.
The PSL, as is any return to playing soccer again, is dependent on the decisions made by our provincial sports governing body and our national sports governing body, and of course the provincial health authority and government.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that one day soon we can be back out on the field playing the sport we love!
Lakewood Soccer will again be entering teams into the Provincial Soccer League (PSL) this upcoming Outdoor season. The PSL season starts in late May and goes until late July. (Training for the team selected will begin in late April). Costs associated with PSL are initially around $300 to $400 for registration and a minimum of $300 to $400 for team fees.
The first round of evaluations will be held on the dates below and the evaluations will be open to anyone interested in playing at this highly competitive level. Evaluations will be run by our qualified Lakewood Technical staff. Registration will be open and accessible online at LakewoodSoccer.com. $20 registration fee per player for attending evaluations.
**If you do not currently reside in the Lakewood zone, we request that you bring a signed (by SYSI) Player Transfer Release Form to the Evaluation Session.
Lakewood is very excited to be offering this opportunity for our competitive players. The past PSL season Lakewood sent a team to the national championships by winning the provincial title and had another team losing in the provincial championships in a very tight final. The experience at the National Championships was great, and one that will be remembered by all the players for a very long time!
Lakewood expects anyone to be offered a roster spot on a PSL team to be fully committed to the team. The commitment expected will be a minimum of 3 to 4 days a week and likely increasing as the season progresses.
Lakewood has supported the PSL because we believe in the level of competition that it has provided in the past and we also believe that the opportunity it provides to be able to represent your club and your province at the National championships is an amazing opportunity for our committed and dedicated players. We have also experienced success at this level because of the commitment to the philosophy at Lakewood that we are about enjoying the process and the creating of teams that turn into champions.
